Early every year, the CES technology fair is presented as the platform to showcase the technological breakthroughs of the leading companies worldwide before the will launch of their products throughout the year or show those still in the testing phase. As for mobile devices, the companies tend to be a little more reserved given the date is so close to the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona next February.
Promoting striking products at both fairs separated by such a narrow time lapse often appears to be a challenge that companies do not take into account, except for certain specific cases. However, to impose its presence, a lot of companies seize the situation to strengthen their mid-range with new products and thus show their best devices in Barcelona. That is why, today we want to show you these innovations shown at CES 2017.
LG and the K series
During its participation in the CES, LG announced the specs for the Stylus 3 which will feature a 5.7 “(720p) screen, a 13MP main camera and 8MP front one, an eight-core MediaTek processor, 3GB RAM and a 3200mAh Battery, also adding a stylus-like pen to write on the screen.
In the same way, they showed the new models that will be part of the K series where the K10 will be the top of the cake, with a simple and stripped design in which it highlights the plastic as a building material. The K10 features a 5.3″ (720p) display, 8-core CPU, 2GB RAM, and a 13MP main camera with Full HD video capability. The K series is completed with the K8, K4 and K3 devices, with smaller screens (5 and 4.5 inches) and simpler hardware. Both the Stylus 3 and K10 and K8 will come with Android Nougat.
The surprise of the presentation was the new V20 that was launched a few months ago. The V series is located at the top of the line leaving the G series aside. The V20 is shown as a solid and well-constructed phone with great quality materials highlighting the chroming finish material.
In their presentation, the CES rookie had the eyes of many spectators, eager to know their announcements. During its first foray into Las Vegas, the Chinese company unveiled the white version of the “Mi Mix”, a mobile device with a ceramic body featuring a 6.4 “screen that spans almost all of its front and was launched the last October. Carrying a fingerprint reader on the back and a 16MP camera. The element that shines the most in this device is its 4400mAh battery that ensures the hardcore autonomy while using this device.
During its booth, Samsung gave to test its new mobile equipment: The Galaxy A4 and A5, in its 2017 version. The improvement in its manufacture could be observed, while being noticed more solid thanks to its metal material. Samsung’s move for the A-series is to further bolster its wide range of average handheld devices, by keeping all three models. The most powerful in this batch is the A7 which features a 5.7 “Full HD display, 3GB RAM, the Exynos 7880 eight-core chip, 32GB of internal storage, a 16MP camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 3600mAh battery. The Galaxy A5 only differs from the A7 for its 5.2 “screen and 3000mAh battery, the rest it has the same scpecs.
The Galaxy A3 has a 4.7-inch (720p) screen, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, an eight-core chip, 13MP camera, also with f/1.9 aperture and a 2350mAh battery. All three devices have fingerprint sensors and are water and dust resistant (according to the IP68 standard), those will come right out of the factory carrying Android 6.0.1.
Huawei, isn’t yet just another of the Chinese companies, putting them forward at their presentation by announcing and showing some of their new mobile equipment. Amongst them, the Honor 6X, a new mobile device that comes to reinforce the company’s mid-range and which preserves the aesthetics implemented by the brand. The phone has a 5.5 inches’ screen, Full HD capable, and double camera in its rear, managing to combine a 12MP sensor with a 2MP sensor to be able to edit the background.
The Mate 9, which was announced in late November, was also available on the booth. This is Huawei’s brand new phablet coming up with a wide screen of 5.9 inches. Although it can look huge, it adapts to the hand thanks to the good use of frontal space as the screen reaches the edges. One of the differences it has with its predecessor, the Mate 8, is that the Mate 9 has two rear cameras, one of 20MP (color) and a monochrome one 12MP working in a synchronized way.
